Indian converter installs two Xeikon 3030 digital label presses
WebTech Industries, a Mumbai, India-based label converter, has installed two Xeikon 3030 digital label presses to complement its flexographic manufacturing process for pressure sensitive and self-adhesive labels. The company acquired the presses through Monotech Systems of Chennai.
‘We evaluated several different options for digital label printing before deciding to purchase the Xeikon 3030 digital label presses,’ said Amar B. Chhajed, director of WebTech. ‘We found the Xeikon presses to be the best solution for our digital manufacturing needs. Key differentiators are the superior print quality and productivity offered by the Xeikon technology. In addition, labels manufactured with Xeikon presses have very high light fastness, an important factor for pharmaceutical label printing. Its ability to handle short-run and variable data labels profitably will make a huge difference for our business and that of our customers.’
WebTech Industries was established in 1998 and caters to the pharmaceutical, food manufacturing and consumer goods segments.
With 1200 dpi printing at 4 bits per spot, the Xeikon 3030 is suited to production of all types of short-run labels, as well as those that require variable information, barcodes or other security features such as microprint. It runs at speeds of up to 9.6 m/min (31.5 ft/min). The 3030 can print on a wide range of substrates without pre-coat, including various self-adhesive materials such as co-extruded films, Bopp, PVC and PET, paperboards, paper with weights ranging from 40 to 350 gsm and transparent and opaque foils.
S. Venkatesh, general manager of Monotech Systems, said: ‘The Xeikon digital label press is a true professional solution for labels and folding cartons. It uses electrophotographic imaging technology with a full rotary system, allowing the press to achieve its maximum speed regardless of the size of labels being produced or the percentage of coverage of each color. By adding Xeikon digital presses to its production line, WebTech broadens its product offering, giving the company significant competitive advantage.’
Hans Gerinckx, channel director for Xeikon, added: ‘WebTech is a pioneer among Indian flexographic printers, and this sale is a major breakthrough for Xeikon. We anticipate that in the coming months and years, the majority of label converting printers in
