Huhtamaki marks 20 years in Thailand

Huhtamaki has celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Thailand operation, which was established in Samut Sakhon to manufacture flexible packaging for products such as coffee and tea, beverages, pet food and ready meals.

In Samut Sakhon, Huhtamaki now has two manufacturing units with over 900 employees. The second plant was opened in 2008 and its expansion completed this September. Both units serve local and global customers, such as Nestlé, Unilever, Mars and Ajinomoto Group.

Huhtamaki said its Thai operation exemplifies its position in fast-growing emerging markets, where around 56 percent of its employees, 38 percent of net sales and 55 percent of manufacturing units are located.

‘The success of Huhtamaki in Thailand has been built on strong relationships with key customers, which themselves are brand leaders in each product category,’ said Panya Teerasawat, sales and marketing director of Huhtamaki’s operations in Thailand.
