Sun Chemical to promote package printing options at inaugural Packprint Summit Americas

Packprint Summit Americas is a two-day conference for the North and Latin American package printing markets that will take place across November 5-6. The program includes technology discussions and case studies to explore the opportunities and challenges in package printing, as well as a table-top exhibition area featuring a host of suppliers to the package printing market, such as Sun Chemical.

Sun Chemical will feature narrow web options, specialty coatings, inks for high-speed printing, digital plate technology and brand counterfeiting programs as part of its presence at Packprint Summit Americas 2013.

This will include: Solaris System, a complete line of inks and coatings designed to meet the printing needs of narrow web and packaging printers; and the SunInspire line of coatings, which use sensory special effects to engage the human senses of sight, touch and smell with high luster metallic, fluorescent, glitter, pearlescent, iridescent, and soft touch or sandy feel finishes.

Sun Chemical’s SunSpectro Sunsharp inks for high-speed printing will also be shown. Developed for high-speed, wide web flexo presses for bread bags and frozen food packaging, Sun Chemical’s SunSpectro Sunsharp solvent-based inks have a high gloss appearance, are resistant to water, fats and oils, and formulated for low odor and low viscosity. SunSpectro Sunsharp HR solvent-based inks, developed for flexographic printing on polyethylene film, are suitable for use with conventional and high-performance printing plates.

Further, narrow web, tag and label and corrugated printers at the conference will be introduced to SunGraphics high-definition flexographic plate technology, with Esko HD software and CDI high-resolution imaging. Printers will also get to see the new flat-top dot technology that prints with 30-60 percent less impression sensitivity compared to standard digital plates.

A final element of the Sun Chemical booth at Packprint Summit Americas 2913 will explore brand protection options, including the proprietary infrared coding technology called Verigard, and a variety of covert, overt and semi-overt options.

Penny Holland, vice-president of marketing for inks in North America at Sun Chemical, said: ‘Our customers want technologies that create eye-catching packaging quality while maintaining high-speed press operations. They are also looking for ways to differentiate their packaging on the shelves and maintain their brand’s integrity.

‘We will show how Sun Chemical is working for our customers by offering products that address each of these key challenges in the industry.’
