Webinar digs into flexible packaging technology

Rodney Pennings, sales director at PCMC will lead the discussion on press considerations for those in the label market and considering a move to flexible packaging. Pennings joined PCMC 21 years ago and most recently served as a value stream leader for the PCL team. In that role, he led significant advances in the company’s PCL product developments, most notably with the Fusion, FusionMAX, Fusion C and ELS-Max machines.
The session also will feature Ginger Cushing a parnter with FPK Resources and flexible packaging consultant for S-OneLP, a supplier of primers and over-print varnishes for HP Indigo digital presses, as well as a portfolio of pre-laminated films, thermal laminates, customizable films and specialty coatings. Labels & Labeling North America Editor Chelsea McDougall will host.
Cushing has spent more than 25 years in the flexible packaging converting industry, first as a research chemist, then she went on to global leadership positions in technology, marketing and sales of adhesives and coatings for flexible packaging, polymeric film production, printing and thermal lamination. Today, Cushing consults in the converting, film manufacturing and digital printing industries.
L&L recently conducted a study of the narrow web flexible packaging producers and found that its readers overwhelmingly were interested in learning more about material considerations for producing flexible packaging.
Addtionally, research from LPC has estimated that 12 to 15 percent of traditional US label printing companies, with sales of $2M USD or more, are producing flexible packaging.
The recent Labels & Labeling study found 54 percent of label converters producing flexible packaging were doing so on flexographic presses, while 35 percent noted they were digitally producing flexible packaging, and some indicating they produced on both technologies.
The second webinar is part of Labels & Labeling’s efforts to educate the label industry on burgeoning narrow web flexible packaging market. Other efforts include membership in the UVFoodSafe group.
