The new machine will complement the £6.3m GBP ($7.6m USD) turnover label printer's digital and flexographic printing capabilities and has been specified with hot foil, embossing, two flexo printing heads and re-register web option.

Tom Allum, chairman, said: ‘The options we have specified will make the machine capable of fulfilling the needs of our ever-growing customers in the food, drinks, beauty and retail markets. Our customers are evermore requiring their products to stand out with a quality look and feel. By being able to offer high quality hot foil, emboss, deboss and create printed multi layered labels, Abbey can give their clients an array of embellished options.’

This latest purchase is the start of an 18 month £1m GPB ($1.2m USD) investment plan which not only includes new machinery for both the digital and flexographic departments but also the increase in the size of its 25,000sq ft factory by another 3,500sq ft.

Allum said: ‘We already increased the space of our warehousing during 2018 by over 4,000sq ft via acquisition of a property next door. The extra 3,500sq ft, which will be built onto the existing factory, will create a better workflow and extra production space. The new space will give us plenty of room to grow over the years although part of it has already been earmarked for machinery we already have on order. It’s our ethos that we cannot afford to stand still and we feel we must keep offering our customers more products and embellishments so that they can compete in their ever-changing markets.’
