Sai Group celebrates 25 years
Sai Paks, part of Sai Group, celebrated 25 years of operation by hosting an open house at its plant in Pune followed by a networking evening.
The event was attended by about 100 people from the Indian label industry that included brand owners and printers. Some of the suppliers present at the open house were Avery Dennison, E+L, Fujifilm Sericol, GEW, Numex Blocks and Mark Andy.
It gave visitors the opportunity to see live demonstration of the newly installed 330mm wide 8-color Mark Andy Performance Series P5 press and a Rotoflex VSI330 slitting machine with a 4k inspection camera from E+L. The press features corona treater, servo driven motors on each unit, chill impression rolls, nipping rollers, static eliminators, delam/relam, differential cold foil unit, and two die-cutting units.
Deepan Samarth, owner at Sai Paks, said: ‘We see increasing demand for shrink sleeves and in-mold labels, thus, this press is suitably configured to print unsupported films such as PE, PET and others. It can print substrates from 12 micron to 356 micron. With an investment of about US$1 million, we aim to grow our label printing business with new equipment.’
The company claims to print 4500 linear meters of unsupported films every hour on the new press and it is run for 12 hours a day. Sai Paks also houses a Zonten stack flexo press, which is primarily used to print pressure-sensitive labels on paper.
With these machineries, Sai Paks caters to label requirements from cosmetic, pharmaceutical and automobile industries. The ISO-certified company clocked a turnover of 25 crore INR in 2017-18 fiscal and is growing at 20 percent year-on-year.
The new equipment was installed by Flexo Image Graphics (FIG), the exclusive distributor of Mark Andy presses and Rotoflex machines in the Indian sub-continent. Gourav Roy, managing director at FIG, said: ‘We are delighted to install the first Mark Andy Performance Series P5 press with new design at Sai Paks. The open house was a success and we met several prospective buyers.’
The second press with new design has been installed at Astron Packaging in Ahmedabad. Mark Andy has a total installation base of 32 Performance Series presses in India with three more in the pipeline this year.
