Xpress Labels invests in a Dantex PicoColour
UK self-adhesive label manufacturer Xpress Labels has placed an order for a Dantex PicoColour UV inkjet digital label press.
PicoColour has been developed to address the continuing demand from major brands for value-added label and package printing. It has a printing width of 210mm and running capacity of 35m/min, works with UV-based inks and is available with CMYK + white. Dantex launched its digital division in 2015, as reported here.
Xpress Labels has a reputation for supplying customers with high quality products with short lead times, so it was necessary to introduce digital print to its offering. The addition of the PicoColour to the company’s existing flexo offering means that work that would usually need to be printed flexo can be produced digitally, expanding its capacity and growing its customer base, as Rob Bagley, commercial director at Xpress Labels, explained.
‘We looked at other digital presses, but the PicoColour offers high print quality as well as all the other features we were looking for and at the right price point; for instance, one key driver for us was the in-line die cutting on the PicoColour. We were offered a tailored package with no bolt-ons. It will suit the work that we do and will integrate well with our business.’
Dantex UK sales manager Martin Hill added: ‘With the majority of printers under market pressure to offer the benefits of digital print – shorter runs, flexibility, quick turnaround and cost effective label solutions – the PicoColour is the ideal solution for Xpress Labels.’
‘The PicoColour’s ability to use any media was a particularly important factor in our decision-making process,’ continued Bagley. ‘We can continue to use our current labelstocks, which is a huge bonus. We will not need to buy a material coater or use specially coated materials so that we can use our new digital press. This will not only be more cost-effective, but will also save on space and will enable us to run more jobs, more quickly.’
