Soma makes appointment to develop global presence
- Appointment coincides with launch of Soma Globe technology and training centre, and reflects ‘continuous growth and the expansion of our activities worldwide’
 
- Stevens has held key management positions covering technical, sales and marketing activities with major corporations in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region
 
Soma Engineering has appointed David Stevens as market development manager for its range of flexographic printing presses.
 
Soma is a Czech-based manufacturer of high-quality printing and converting machines for a wide variety of industries. Its portfolio encompasses CI flexographic presses, slitter/rewinders, laminators, mounter-proofers, sheeters, die-cutting units and special purpose machines.  
 
The company serves an international market with representation and distribution channels throughout the world.
 
The company’s new Soma Globe facility, opening in May 2013, will offer customers the opportunity for both product development and training and bring together key technologies and suppliers in flexible packaging production under one roof.
 
Based in the UK, Stevens (pictured, top) has held key management positions covering technical, sales and marketing activities with major corporations in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
 
Soma sales director Petr Blasko said: ‘David Stevens has some 30 years of experience in the field of flexographic printing and has an in-depth knowledge of the technology.
 
‘His background and experience in development projects and technical service will be an invaluable asset to the company.
