Esko has opened a new office in Bangalore, India as it looks to capitalize on strong growth opportunities in South Asia, particularly in India.

The new location houses Esko's expanding Indian operation and has new demonstration facilities.

The premises host a fully-featured customer training center, where visitors can explore and get trained on Esko´s systems and applications for the packaging, and sign and display markets, including a Kongsberg digital finishing system demo center.

Accommodating a growing team of software developers and application engineers, Esko's new office facilities will enable it to expand product engineering and prototyping, systems integration capabilities and e-support services to customers around the world.

As further evidence of the company's investment in the region, Esko said it is dedicated to recruiting local expertize and adding new talent to strengthen its employee base in India.

The new office was officially inaugurated on March 25 by Esko's chief executive officer Carsten Knudsen, alongside other senior Esko executives.

Hoshi Deboo, Esko’s vice-president for the Asia-Pacific region, said: ‘South Asia, and in particular India, have become buoyant and robust markets with a strong drive for automation, standardization and quality assurance.

‘Our growth in this market has continued to such an extent that the timing to move to larger premises is perfect. It puts us in a strong position to ensure that our customers are fully supported to make the most of today´s opportunities.’

Active in India since 1996, Esko has formed successful and longstanding relationships with leading companies such as Universal Print Systems, Shilp Gravures, Numex, Veepee, Britannia, Pragati, Acuprint, ITC, Parksons, TCPL, Positive Packaging and more. The company spent the first years focusing on developing commercial opportunities.

Ambar Patel, managing director of Shilp Gravures, said: ‘We are very pleased to have been associated with Esko since 1996, being its first customer in India when it was called Barco Graphics.

‘There have been a lot of developments over the years in Esko’s application software and by being with it all this time, we are beneficiaries of these developments.

‘It has helped us to grow in a better way than our peers by providing our industry with an enhanced quality of gravure cylinders thanks to the processing of jobs through Esko’s software. There is no comparison to the contribution from Esko to Shilp, and to the industry as well. It has left the competition way behind.’

Knudsen said: ‘There is a palpable air of optimism in the Indian market as major brand owners localize their production to meet the growing local consumer demands. Through our broad array of technologies, Esko can help print and packaging operations to deliver cost-effective, consistent and high-quality solutions.

‘Opening new premises underpins our commitment to supporting businesses in the region, as well as to our important and growing teams of global software development and support. We are confident that our local organization will continue to contribute to the growing success of Esko.’
