Highcon helps Antilope achieve award nomination

Belgium’s Antilope has been nominated for a 2013 Pro Carton/ECMA Award with its recently installed Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing system for folding carton production helping it achieve this accolade.
Antilope has been shortlisted in the beauty and cosmetic category of the 2013 Pro Carton/ECMA Award program. The awards will be presented during the ECMA Congress 2013, taking place in Dubrovnik, Croatia on September 18-20.
The packaging for Mylène Cosmetics’ Femme fatale perfume has been produced using the Highcon Euclid to create an intricate pattern cut into the substrate, which is manufactured by Sappi.
Antilope recently installed a Highcon Euclid, making it an early adopter of the technology alongside the UK’s Glossop Cartons, with Mylène Cosmetics one of the first to benefit from the installation.
Benefits have included time- and money-saving opportunities, as the Mylène packaging no longer requires a regular cutting die. The lower initial costs allow orders for small volume jobs to be placed, as well as producing less waste and ensuring a much smaller carbon footprint for the production activities.
The entry’s official listing on the Pro Carton/ECMA Award website states: ‘The two-colour print and design with its fine laser cuts gives the carton a glowing, luxurious appearance.’
Linda Corremans, Antilope Cardboard's manager, said: ‘Mylène wanted the current Femme fatale packaging to be upgraded. For a state-of-the-art company such as Mylène it is vital for its cosmetic products to stand out from all the rest. Hence the crucial need for “out of the box” thinking.’
The winners and shortlisted entries for the 2013 Pro Carton/ECMA Award program will be seen for the first time at Labelexpo Europe 2013 as part of the Package Printing Workshop feature area in hall 12.
