Eagle Systems introduces cold foil on uncoated paper
Eagle Systems is to use its presence at drupa 2016 to demonstrate the first system capable of applying cold foil finishing to uncoated papers, and which makes sheet-fed cold foiling on uncoated stock ‘a reality’.
Under development for more than six years as an R&D project, drupa 2016 will mark the first time a viable, sellable option, with 100 percent coverage capabilities, will be available to the marketplace. At the show, proprietary samples will be distributed.
Eagle Systems said sheet-fed cold foiling is an industry first due to the complex characteristics of uncoated stocks, being porous and having variables in the surface, but is now possible through the combination of the company’s cold foil technology and consumables. Eagle Systems president and CEO Mike King described the development as a ‘real game changer’ for package and commercial printing because, until now, ‘it simply never worked.
‘Cold foil on uncoated stock has been tried and tested by many folks with little success. I have to admit, Eagle Systems invested a lot of resources leading up to this breakthrough, but we’re dedicated exclusively to the application of hot and cold foil. For many service providers of greeting cards, food packaging, pocket folders and wine labels, as well as beer and soda carriers, this innovation alone will be well worth the trip to Dusseldorf. We expect a tremendous response.'
Currently, there is only one press set-up to do this in the world, with Eagle Systems having retrofitted a manroland press at the The Matlet Group’s Packaging Graphics operation in Providence, Rhode Island.
Eagle Systems recently introduced the Eagle Cold Foil Certification Course, designed to ensure those using its cold foil technology can produce products of a higher quality and generate a greater return on their investment.
Eagle Systems is exhibiting in hall 16, stand A71 at drupa 2016.
