UPM Raflatac appoints senior VP for RFID business

Marcus Vaenerberg has been appointed senior vice president of the UPM Raflatac RFID business area. He will begin his new role on April 1. Vaenerberg has worked as vice president, sales for UPM Raflatac's RFID business since 2005. The current holder of the position, Christer Härkönen, is leaving UPM to work for a company outside the RFID industry.
‘Many companies worldwide now see RFID as an easily adoptable technology that releases costly resources from inessential work for more productive tasks. We, as the world’s leading tag and inlay manufacturer, can together with our partner alliance provide the best products and solutions for any company on a global scale,’ said Marcus Vaenerberg.
‘We have seen signs of healthy market recovery in the RFID industry during the past few months, and the future prospects are very exciting. I am very pleased to have this opportunity to take charge of an industry-leading company in such an exhilarating situation,’ he continued.
‘During the economic downturn, UPM Raflatac has been able to strengthen its position as the globally leading manufacturer of high-quality passive RFID tags and inlays,’ said Jussi Vanhanen, president of Engineered Materials Business Group, UPM. ‘As the economy recovers, we are seeing an increasing number of new RFID applications emerging. Marcus has a long and successful front-line experience in developing the RFID business together with our customers and partners. He and the rest of our experienced management team will ensure UPM Raflatac's sustained growth and leading position in the industry.’
